The applicant will be required to carry out the maintenance on electrical generation equipment and the distribution of medium and low voltage. They must have knowledge in dealing with emergency switchgear, automatic transfers and diesel generators. The E&I engineer will be required to maintain un-interruptible power supply units, power utility services for gas turbines, electrical equipment and field instrumentation. The candidate will perform electronic monitoring, controlling and signal devices. The candidate will be expected to be proficient in using industry instrumentation and telemetry, control valves, ESD system and HIPPS system and NEN3140.
The role will require the undertaking of RTU, communications and telemetry systems, DCS and PLC's as well as gas and oil metering stations. The companies which will employ the candidate are crude oil extractors, natural gas suppliers and oilfield service companies.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will hold the relevant skills such as a strong understanding of power generation, gas turbine units and Foxboro DCS system. They have the ability to identify and shut down machinery when it is deemed unsafe to use. The ability to think and act under pressure is vital, especially when determining maintenance techniques that keep the flow of operational requirements and equipment integrity. If machinery is in need of urgent maintenance, the candidate will be able to sufficiently perform installations, repairs, overhauls, calibrations and tests. The ability to use a wide variety of specific industry instrumentation that records, indicates and controls the regulation of flow, pressure, NEN3140, temperature and position of utility systems is vital.
The E&I Engineer will have skills that can troubleshoot telemetry and performs regular preventative measures to ensure the systems such as diagnostics, lubrication and metering controls stay in good running order. The need to be proficient in making estimates for labor, materials and supplies are needed to allow for maximum performance. The candidate will need to have at least five years experience, have a high school diploma or equivalent after attaining Instrument Technician status. They must be capable of using a wide variety of hand and power tools, electric and electronic test gear related to the field and shop work. Knowledge with programmable logic controllers and hardware is desirable.
