Woods Hole Marine's Solution To Pollution
Following OPFLEX Solutions' CEO, Scott Smith's, presentation to the scientific community at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute on the OPFLEX Technology on Wednesday, October 26th, Smith and his team demonstrated the efficacy of the technology and its ability to be recycled with a Maytag washer and a wringer.
Joe Harvey of Woods Hole Marine has seen the recent demonstration of the OPFLEX Snare MOP removing oil sheen within minutes at the marina, which was all they needed to support the technology. He was convinced about OPFLEX material's ability to be reused to eliminate the waste problem. Woods Hole Marine can so provide an environmentally friendly solution to clean up every-day oil contamination throughout Massachusetts.
Smith added to be committed to providing Low Carbon Impact (LCI) solutions to clean the precious waterways in Massachusetts and scientifically monitor the waters with OPFLEX Environmental Indicators. He is looking forward to releasing the testing reports from New Bedford and Barnstable Harbour. Unlike the Gulf of Mexico, the shallow waters surrounding Cape Cod and have a lower volume of water, which makes that a small oil spill or oil contaminated storm water runoff poses a great risk to wildlife and the livelihoods of the local fishermen.
Smith added that in his opinion, most conventional white sorbents are based on imported materials and fill the local landfills needlessly as recyclable options are availble.
