OSRL has welcomed BAPCO, Bahrein, as their latest Participant Member. An Associate Member since 2007, BAPCO recently upgraded their membership to Participant status, gaining access to the services on a worldwide basis from November 2011. OSRL CEO Archie Smith said the company has worked on a number of preparedness projects with them, enhancing oil spill preparedness in the country.

BAPCO's membership reinforces the strategic importance of our Bahrain base which was established in 2007 to bring OSRL closer to our Members in the Middle East region.

BAPCO is wholly owned by the Government of Bahrain and is engaged in the oil industry including refining, distribution of petroleum products and natural gas, sales and exports of crude oil and refined products. The first to discover oil in the Arabia peninsula in 1932, BAPCO started exporting oil in 1934, and refining in 1936. BAPCO's prime customers for crude oil and refined products are based in the Middle East, India, the Far East, Southeast Asia and Africa.
