Second Wind Farm Cable Survey Completed

In August 2011, Submagnetix, the survey division of Innovatum Ltd., UK, completed the Depth of Bury Survey of the second export cable from the Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm, which is located off the Suffolk coast. The survey was carried out from the beach to the five-kilometre point.
The survey was completed using the Innovatum SMARTRAK 9 cable and pipeline tracking system and the Innovatum IPPS Integrated Portable Survey System.
Most of the survey was carried out with the Smartrak 9 system mounted on an Innovatum-towed sled. The remainder of survey was completed with the tracking system mounted on a Saab SeaEye Falcon ROV owned by Submagnetix. The equipment on the ROV included a scanning profiler to determine mean seabed level.
The vessel, Geosurveyor 4, a 24-metre catamaran, is fitted with an A frame for launch and recovery of the Sled and ROV, and was chartered from GEOxyz, bvba, Belgium.
The data was collected on live AC cables, and is of excellent quality.
