Recoverable Ocean Moorings

ROMOR Ocean Solutions, Canada has recently released the C-ROM, Compact Recoverable Ocean Mooring. This is an innovative oceanographic subsurface mooring design that offers a reliable, compact solution to mooring and recovering oceanographic instrumentation. The two designs, the C-ROM and C-ROM Plus, offer a subsurface flotation collar that provides approximately 80 and 105 lbf positive buoyancy for use in a seawater environment for depths up to 500m.

 

The subsurface floatation collar fits around any manufactures’ acoustic release assembly and any oceanographic instrument that can accommodate the dimensions of the proposed design. As an option the C-ROM SeaRovery Anchor Recovery Drum is a device which can be fitted to the C-ROM to enable recovery of the mooring anchor once the mooring has been released and surfaced.

 

The C-ROM can be viewed at the ROMOR booth at the CWTM 2011 conference in Monterey, CA this March, and on both the ROMOR and Planet Ocean booth’s at the following Ocean Business conference in Southampton, UK.
