OceanTools, which designs and manufactures products for the subsea ROV and robotics industry, has made a million pound investment in new build headquarters in Aberdeen, UK. The custom-built offices, situated within the Aberdeen Science and Technology Park, are almost four times as large as the companyÂ’s previous office space, giving 500m2 of offices, development laboratory and electronics workshop space.

OceanTools plans significant expansion in the coming two years and the increased space and enhanced facilities will allow the company to double its staff by 2013. The new headquarters building is called OceanTools House and is situated on Claymore Drive in Aberdeen.

Managing director Kevin Parker says: “We now have the space for an additional twelve development and production engineers as well as increased administration positions. These new posts will enable our further expansion into key market areas including extension of our FPSO anchor chain/bend stiffener video monitoring systems.”

OceanTools, which was established in 1997, intends to continue its strategy of incremental and organic growth of the company in the UK at the same time as planning the opening of offices in key overseas locations.

OceanTools specialises in the design of underwater equipment for the offshore oil and gas, oceanographic and scientific and military and defence sectors. The company manufactures a wide range of standard products such as north-seeking gyrocompasses as well as undertaking special project engineering including the development of FPSO anchor chain/bend stiffener video monitoring systems and the design of custom winches and hydraulic power units.
