New CEO for IMarEST

David Loosley has been appointed chief executive of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST, UK), and will be taking up the role on 7th November 2011. He joins the Institute from the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) where, as Head of Operations, he has been responsible for the operational delivery of maritime safety information to the British Government and the world-wide maritime community since his appointment in April 2007.

"We are very much looking forward to welcoming David Loosley to the IMarEST in November," says Professor Chris Hodge, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. "His career spans the Royal Navy, the commercial world, the UKHO, and also non-executive roles within a Primary Care Trust, providing him with a particularly rich mix of experience that will serve him well in his new role with us.

 

Prior to joining the UKHO, David Loosley was divisional managing director at Williams Lea, a business process outsourcing company, specialising in corporate information.  In this role David had full responsibility for a GBP100m turnover business with almost a thousand personnel based throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.
