Dredging Project in Xiamen
Currently, the daily quantity of dredging that has been dug out is about 10,000 cubic metres. The project is expected to completed by the end of 2011.
Upon its completion, more mangroves will be planted under Haicang Bridge and along the coastline to build a Mangrove Park. Combined with the existing five hectares of mangrove trees, the expanded mangrove forest will provide a better habitat and feeding area for egrets.
Meanwhile, dredging in coastal waters will provide a larger habitat for Chinese white dolphins, a highly protected marine species in China. By then, Haicang Bay will be built into a charming marine park in the near future.
