Bluefin Opens New Facility

Bluefin Robotics has moved its facilities to the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy, Massachusetts, USA. The company has unified its Cambridge headquarters and East Boston marine operations site to the 553 South Street location making this the first time in the company's history that all employees have worked under one roof. The newly renovated 54,000 square foot facility houses three floors of engineering, manufacturing, and administrative functions for over 70 employees.

With direct access to water, the company is able to dock their vessel just steps away from the assembly bays making testing and evaluation quicker and easier.

"Merging our two sites at the Quincy Shipyard efficiently streamlines our AUV integration, testing and training," said David P. Kelly, CEO and president of Bluefin Robotics. "The location is ideal for us because it provides a flexible workspace on the water with access to Boston amenities such as the airport and ferry. We are thrilled to be here and look forward to many years of profitable business in Quincy."

The move to Quincy coincides with a city effort to rejuvenate the area by attracting other businesses to the shipyard. For instance, the New England Aquarium has established a mammal rehabilitation center next door. Bluefin's role in the effort was recognized recently by The Massachusetts Alliance for Economic Development for which the company received Gold Winner status.
