2011-04-05 11:39:00 - Hydro International
Exhibitors and visitors couldn't wait to get into the exhibition for Ocean Business. The show could not start, however, without the official opening, this year courtesy of town crier John Melody.

Town crier John Melody opens Ocean Business 2011

He emphasised in his words the importance of the show for Southampton, the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) in Southampton and the profession. More than 300 companies are on the trade show displaying their news and developments. Also he mentioned the hands-on workshops, the vessels with live demonstrations of equipment and the test tank being used for demonstrations of subsea equipment. Thousands of visitors are expected to attend.

Alongside the exhibition, there are events on Ocean Careers and Offshore Survey. The first aims to attract young people to join the profession. Offshore Survey, now held for the third time, showcases latest developments and research in oceanography and offshore surveys as the name already is indicating, with experiences and real-life cases from the business.
