2011 Hurricane Season Expectations
The 2010 hurricane season ranks as one of the top five most active seasons on record, with 19 named storms, 12 hurricanes and five major hurricanes. Fortunately for the United States, almost all of the 2010 storms either moved into Mexico or tracked safely out to sea in the open Atlantic.
Current indications are that the 2011 hurricane season will be another active one. But don’t expect the same steering currents that were around in 2010 to remain in place for this year’s hurricanes. Though there will be not expected as many named storms in 2011 as in 2010, there’s a very good chance that the Gulf of Mexico and U.S. Coast will be significantly impacted this season.
